THE TREES THEY’RE ALL BARE (Roud no. 1170)
Ken Stubbs recorded this charming song from George Townshend (1882–1967) at Lewes, Sussex, in 1960. It paints beautiful word pictures of winter scenes, conjuring up images that you might find in old Christmas cards or woodcut prints. I tweaked the words a bit and hit on the idea of repeating the first two lines and arranging the song for mixed voices after the manner of the Copper family of Rottingdean, Sussex.
